The Big O Burger

I love burgers. I love onions. I also like going to a certain Australian steakhouse chain. In tribute to one of my favorite places to eat, I have created a burger that has onion soup mix in the beef, sautéed onions and onion rings on top held together with an onion bun. Too much? No way! Pictured are my Aussie Dipping Sauce and Crumbs in my Mustachio’s Beer Battered Onion Rings.

2 pounds of ground chuck
1 package of onion soup mix
3 Tablespoons of Worcestershire
1/2 cup water, minus 3 Tablespoons
Season with salt and pepper before cooking
Onion buns
Cheese if desired, I used Swiss in the picture

Form into patties and cook/grill to desired doneness.

Sautéed Onions:
2 large sweet onions, sliced thin and separated
2 Tablespoons of butter
1 heaping Tablespoon of sugar

Melt butter in a saucepan. Add onions and sugar. Cook on low and caramelize the onions. This will take about 20-25 minutes.

To assemble this awesome burger, toast or grill inside of the onion bun, add the Aussie Dipping Sauce to bun, place hamburger patty on the bottom bun, top with sautéed onions and onion rings.
