Apple Cider Mimosas

The perfect way to start your Thanksgiving or holiday morning. It’s a twist on the the typical mimosa, instead of orange juice, I used apple cider. It’s delicious! This could easily be made a mocktail by using sparkling cider.

1 part champagne

1 part apple cider

So easy, just put equal parts of champagne and apple cider in your glass. Cheers!

Margaritaville Margarita

Happy National Margarita Day!  This is a very simple and easy Margarita to make. This one is frozen, however if you prefer on the rocks, let the limeade melt and continue with the recipe.

6 ounces of frozen limeade, from a 12 ounce can

Juice of one large orange

4 ounces of good tequila, I used Patron

2 ounces of Grand Marnier

1 cup of ice

Limes for rimming glasses and garnish

Course salt for glasses if desired

Don’t forget your last shaker of salt!  😉

In a blender,  add limeade, juice from the orange, tequila, Grand Marnier and ice. Blend until smooth. Pour in your glass and leave your worries behind. These are strong margaritas so please drink responsibly. Dive in and enjoy!  Makes 2 margaritas.

Copycat Salted Caramel Cafe

After the hustle and bustle of shopping and preparing holiday meals, why not treat yourself to a holiday cocktail?!  This cocktail can be purchased at Tampa’s Hard Rock Cafe but now you can make one for yourself in the comfort of your own home. This could give Irish Coffee a run for the money. It’s like a caramel coffee drink that people order at the high end coffee shop with a kick!  This drink is very tasty.

Cast of characters.

1 shot of Tia Maria

1 shot of Bailey’s  Irish Cream

5 ounces of Half and Half

3 ounces of Salted Caramel Syrup (I used Monin that I purchased from Amazon)

Whip cream for garnish

Caramel ice cream syrup

Caramel corn, optional

I used a glass that is often used for Irish Coffee. Tia Maria is like a coffee liqueur. Add the shots of Tia Maria and Bailey’s to your glass. Add half and half and caramel syrup. Stir to mix. Top with whip cream, drizzle with caramel syrup and top with caramel corn.  Cheers!

*please remember to drink responsibly

Melon Pucker Martini

I guess by now that you might have figured out that I like watermelon and limes. And cocktails! 😉 This drink is very refreshing and tasty. It can be made kid and family friendly by leaving out the vodka and replacing it with 2 additional cups of Cherry 7-Up.

4 cups of seedless watermelon, about 1 1/2 pounds
3/4 cup frozen limeade concentrate, thawed
4 cups Cherry 7- Up, I used diet
2 cups Vodka, more or less to taste
Limes for garnish

In a food processor or blender, blend watermelon until it becomes juice. Strain juice with a mesh strainer to remove pulp and any tiny seeds. Pour into a pitcher and add thawed limeade and stir. Add Cherry 7-Up and stir. Garnish with lime slices in pitcher. Serve immediately! Cheers!

Recipe adapted from Aprons.

It’s A Mudslide Baby

It was 92 degrees today. Hot for April. I have been wanting a good Mudslide. My favorite one can be bought at Fat Tuesdays, Duval Street, Key West, Florida. Lately when I order one they are thin and like chocolate milk with alcohol in it. Not too great. I found the right combination. It’s thick and creamy like an adult milkshake. Perfect dessert/after dinner drink on a hot summer day. Enjoy!

1 scoop of vanilla ice cream
1 scoop of chocolate ice cream
2 scoops of coffee ice cream
1 shot of vodka
1 shot of Baileys
1 shot of Kahlua
Hot fudge ice cream topping for drizzling
Whip cream for garnish

Put ice cream and liquor in a blender. Blend until thick and smooth. Drizzle hot fudge sauce down the sides of a tall glass. Pour Mudslide into glass. Add whip cream, more hot fudge drizzled over whip cream. Relax and enjoy!

Damn Good Bloody Mary

It’s 5:00 somewhere… Today I bring you a Damn Good Bloody Mary. This recipe was given to me by my friend, Pat George. To be honest I am not a huge fan of Bloody Mary’s but I love this one. Three ingredients not counting garnish and ice!

1/3 cup unsalted beef cooking stock
1/3 cup Zing Zang Bloody Mary Mix
1/3 cup Vodka

Fill a glass with ice, add ingredients, stir and enjoy!
