Copycat Bell Beefer Burger

A long time ago when I was growing up with Pebbles Flintstone, Taco Bell had a burger on their menu. The burger was originally called The Bellburger but was later changed to Bell Beefer and Bell Beefer Supreme. The Supreme version had shredded lettuce, cheese and tomatoes on it. This was on the menu from the 1970’s to the 1990’s. I loved this burger. It was taco meat, diced onions, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheese and mild taco sauce. I was gifted a bottle of Red Duck Mild Organic Taco Sauce. I am going to be very honest, this is my favorite taco sauce I have ever tasted. I have already ordered 5 more bottles. Yes, it is that good! The Bell Beefer kind of resembles a Sloppy Joe but so much better.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 pounds of ground chuck

1 cup onions, diced

Garlic salt and pepper

1 packet taco seasoning

1 8 ounce bottle of Red Duck Organic Taco Sauce*, or your favorite taco sauce

Sharp Cheddar Cheese, grated (optional)

Iceberg lettuce, shredded (optional)

Tomatoes, diced (optional)

Place beef in a skillet. Season with garlic salt and pepper. Add diced onions and cook until meat is no longer pink. The onions should be translucent. Drain off all fat. Sprinkle taco seasoning over beef and combine. (DO NOT FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON THE TACO SEASONING PACKET) Pour one bottle of Red Duck Mild Organic Taco Sauce and stir to combine. Lower heat and simmer thoroughly about 10 minutes. Serve on buns, add cheese, lettuce and tomatoes if desired. Enjoy! Espero que te guste! #ad #redDuck #sponsored

Just cheese please.

*redDuck can be found on Amazon or ordered directly from the redDuck website. I ordered off their website and the shipping was free. If you are lucky to live in the Pacific Northwest, you can probably find it in your grocery stores.

The Southernmost Burger

A huge thanks to the #BurgerMonth sponsors for the Ultimate Burger Grilling Giveaway:  Cabot Cheese, Char-Griller Grills, Crow Canyon Home, Porter Road, Melissas Produce, Red Duck, Spiceology, &  Western BBQ

Born and raised in Southern California by a California Dad and North Carolina Mom, I was no stranger to Southern foods growing up. I have lived in Florida since 1978 and I have fallen in love with the Southernmost city, Key West Florida. The sauce on the burger is similar to Bloom Sauce at Outback Steakhouse which originated in Tampa. Another nod to the Southern city I have called home for forty years. This burger is named after the city and the foods I dearly love.

Building The Southernmost Burger

My Southernmost Burger starts off with Aussie Sauce on both sides of the bun. I chose ground chuck 80/20, grilled to perfection. I added my delicious Pimento Cheese on top of my burger followed by a Fried Green Tomato. I grilled slices of Vidalia Onion to top off my burger for added sweetness. I grew up a burger girl snd I think this might be my favorite of all time. #ad #sponsored

Cinco de Mayo Burger #Burger Month

This post is part of a kick-butt burger grill giveaway hosted by GirlCarnivore but the Cinco de Mayo burger epicness is all my own.

I have always loved Mexican food and cheese hamburgers. For National Burger Month, I combined my two favorite foods, cheeseburger and Mexican food.

Ingredients and Preparation:

Season meat with cumin, garlic salt and pepper and grill to your liking.

SautΓ© onion slices in a pan with a pat of butter and a teaspoon of sugar to caramelize them. The caramelized onions add a sweet taste. Keep warm.

Grill poblano pepper until charred. Place pepper in a plastic bag to steam skin. Remove most of charred outside. I like to leave some char on the pepper. Cut open and remove seeds and cut into pieces to fit on your burger. This grilled pepper adds a delicious smoky taste.

Add your pepper jack cheese and watch it melt. Assemble your burger with the toppings.

Add a dollup of your favorite refried beans. I can’t enjoy Mexican without them. Yum!

Put a generous spoonful of fresh pico de gallo. This replaces all of your condiments.

The Rueben Burger #BurgerMonth

I love burgers. Always have. I also love Rueben Sandwiches and I thought the two would be a match made in burger heaven. This was a fun burger to make and a delicious burger to eat!

Where this epic burger creation is my own for #BurgerMonth 2016, I would love to thank Certified Angus Beef, Cowboy Charcoal, Char-broil, Dreamfarm, Cabot Cheese, Grill Master Club, American Lamb Board, and CuttingBoard.com for the kick butt grill prize packages!

It is a great privilege for me to participate in #BurgerMonth2016, hosted by Kita of Girl Carnivore & Pass The Sushi.

May is National Burger Month! Kita from Girl Carnivore has put together a wonderful event full of delicious burgers from 60 of the most talented food bloggers

Ingredients:

1 1/4 Angus Beef, or your favorite ground, I used 80/20 Angus

Sliced corned beef, I used a thicker slice from my local deli and I used 2 slices per burger

Swiss cheese slices, I used 2 slices per burger

2 Tablespoons or more Sauerkraut, I used silver Floss Bavarian style (with caraway seeds), drained well*

2 Tablespoons or more per bun Thousand Island Dressing

Pretzel Buns, or your favorite bun, toasted

Before grilling your burger, take your sauerkraut out of the liquid. I find it best to use several paper towels and squeeze the liquid out. The secret to a good Rueben is not to have the bread or bun soggy from the sauerkraut. Set aside.

Prepare meat into patties.

I made 3 burger patties from 1 1/4 pounds of Angus beef. Β  I grilled each burger until my desired choice, medium well. After I flipped the burgers, I topped each patty with 2 thick slices of corned beef, folded to fit on top of each burger. I then placed 2 slices of cheese on each burger patty.

Grill or toast the buns and top each side with thousand island dressing.

To assemble your burger, put burger on top of bottom bun that has thousand island on it. On top of the cheese of the burger, top with sauerkraut and finish with top bun. Enjoy!

The Big O Burger

I love burgers. I love onions. I also like going to a certain Australian steakhouse chain. In tribute to one of my favorite places to eat, I have created a burger that has onion soup mix in the beef, sautΓ©ed onions and onion rings on top held together with an onion bun. Too much? No way! Pictured are my Aussie Dipping Sauce and Crumbs in my Mustachio’s Beer Battered Onion Rings.

Ingredients:
2 pounds of ground chuck
1 package of onion soup mix
3 Tablespoons of Worcestershire
Sauce
1/2 cup water, minus 3 Tablespoons
Season with salt and pepper before cooking
Onion buns
Cheese if desired, I used Swiss in the picture

Form into patties and cook/grill to desired doneness.

SautΓ©ed Onions:
2 large sweet onions, sliced thin and separated
2 Tablespoons of butter
1 heaping Tablespoon of sugar

Melt butter in a saucepan. Add onions and sugar. Cook on low and caramelize the onions. This will take about 20-25 minutes.

To assemble this awesome burger, toast or grill inside of the onion bun, add the Aussie Dipping Sauce to bun, place hamburger patty on the bottom bun, top with sautΓ©ed onions and onion rings.

Taco Salsa Burgers

Can’t decide between a burger and taco? This burger should satisfy everyone.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds ground chuck
1 package of taco seasoning (I used Taco Bell)
Monterey Pepper Jack Cheese Slices
1 red onion, sliced
1 avocado, sliced
1 tomato, sliced
Salt and pepper to taste (I used garlic salt)
4 pretzel buns, grilled or buns of your choice
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup thick and chunky salsa, I used Pace

In a bowl combine ground chuck with taco seasoning. Mix with hands. Season meat with salt and pepper. Form into 4 patties. Grill or cook on stovetop until desired doneness is achieved. While burgers are cooking, slice onion, tomato and avocado. Grill buns on BBQ grill or until broiler.

In a small bowl, combine salsa and sour cream. Add a nice dollop to hamburger buns. Add meat, cheese, tomato, onion and avocado. Anything you would like on a taco, you could add to this burger. Enjoy!
